（一）柴油发电机组的介电强度试验
介电强度试验常被称为“绕组对机壳及相互间绝缘的耐压试验（简称耐压试验）”。因所加电压有交流和直流之分，所以又分成耐交流电压试验和耐直流电压试验两种两者不能相互代替。对于中小型电机，如不加以注明，应理解为只要求进行耐交流电压试验。
耐电压试验在电机生产的不同阶段其试验要求有所不同。一般分两阶段：第一阶段为绕组嵌人铁芯但还未浸漆时（俗称定子白坯或转子白坯）；第二阶段为装成整机后。
除非有特殊规定，整机试验应指对绕组和机壳之间的加压试验，即习惯所说的对地耐压试验。下面着重讲述耐交流电压试验。
1.试验设备线路及其工作原理
高压电机耐交流电压试验设备的工作原理：低压交流（我国为50Hz，380V或220V）通过控制开关S1输给调压器T1一次侧，调节调压器T1，按需要输出不同值的电压送到升压变压器T2；升压变压器T2将电压升到需要数值后加到被试品上；电压表PV指示出试验电压；电流表PA指示出高压泄漏电流；电阻R1的作用是在被试品出现短路时，使变压器输出电流受到限制，从而避免变压器受到较大短路电流的损伤，所以也称为“限流保护电阻"，其阻值按每伏试验电压0.2～1Ω设置，一般采用水电阻；球隙保护装置Q用于防止对被试品加过高的电压，一般在试验前进行调整，使之在电压达到l.1一1.15倍试验电压时放电；R2是球隙保护电阻，一般按每伏试验电压1Ω选配。
